Ideas for masking in tracker

....

For Roto Possible workflow

1. Using the planar tracker capture patches basic position, scaling and rotation.

2. Using siox[1] or other tracing(potrace/autotrace) algorithm get a basic outline at several keyframes though out the animation.

3. Set the number of splines for the mask for the numerous key frames.

4. Using heat weight find corresponding splines to position making these shape keys.

Possible solution for rotation of masking shape

.[2] francois-tarlier technique

1. Use to planar patches or tracking points and use them to drive the rotation of the mask. Or I guess empties driving a armature would work. Ex. On a person one rotoshape would cover shoulder to elbow, another from elbow to hand.

2. Using a quick garbage mask tracked and keying.[3] I was able to filter sobel and get a decent outline of my subject. I was trying to figure a way to multiple this with a texture that would then make it trackable for masking.Pro.. Easy mask matching characters outline. Con... Current problem is the texture doesn't move with tracking.[4]
