Toolbar Designs 4 - 06/08/2013

  • There are two main interaction modes in the 3D view: operators (noun-verb), and paint (verb-noun).
  • Object, Edit, and Pose modes are operator modes and the sculpt and paint modes are paint modes.
  • Operator modes allow for many operators to be executed, whereas paint modes allow only one operator to be executed.
  • There is a distinction to be made between executing an operator (via a button), and the properties of an operator (via sliders, toggles, and menus).
  • In these mockups tool properties are shown in the vertical sidebar and tool buttons are shown in a horizontal toolbar.
  • In the operator modes the sidebar shows the redo properties (after execution) and in the paint modes the sidebar shows the paint options (before execution).
