No maintaining version history

Hallo,

I've just looked a the article Manual/Animated Image Textures, you have not maintained any version history. I think this should not happen. Where is the original article now so that one can copy at least the authors to the discussion page. --Soylentgreen 10:30, 25 December 2006 (CET)

Driven Shape Keys (and Documentation in General)

On the Driven Shape Keys page, it says

"If one would like to animate relative Shape Keys in Blender, this unfortunately, cannot be done with Actions. (See Action Editor)"

I've only recently discovered that Shape Keys CAN be controlled with the Action Editor (and optionally the NLA editor).

The key seems to be

  • Setting the IPO type to Shape in the IPO window
  • Enabling the 'Sets IPO to be included in action' Icon in the IPO window

(I didn't update the page, as I'm not 100% sure of how this works. It seems that sometimes the 'Sets IPO ...' icon gets turned on automatically, (maybe from a previous invocation of it?). Also it's not clear to me if the IPO type has to be "Shape", as I seemed to get an Action name created even when the IPO type was Object .... and the Action then worked (erratically / randomly ???) as an action, other times not.. Setting the IPO type as Shape seems to reliably work though.

Now my second point. I'm certainly grateful to Soylentgreen for documenting the Driven Shape keys / creating the page, but if the 'Sets IPO icon thingy' has been (apparently) working since 2.41, why wasn't he aware of it? .. And no one up till now has contradicted the "Action Editor not available for shapes" statement ? Maybe it's just one of those things that have "fallen in the cracks", but the ability to use shape keys/actions + the NLA editor is one of the more important features for character animation and should be documented correctly and as completely as possible. --Mstram 10:31, 20 August 2006 (CEST) Mike

Menu templates

Hi Broken, what do you think of templates for menu entries in Blender? I've made a Mockup of what i would suggest for something like this .... since the "Literal" template get's abused for virtually everything except keys right now. User:Hoehrer/Template:men

Moving pages

Hi Broken, should it be possible for anyone to move pages, or is that a privilege reserved for admins? I think perhaps BlenderDev/ArrayModifier should be moved to the user manual - maybe to Manual/Array (which is linked from Manual)?

Categorization

Hi, Broken,

There are old ideas about BlenderWiki Categorization and BeBraw pointed out this need again. From my experience with Wikipedia is this one of the most delicate things (which can easy go wrong). Before we start with this I would like to see your opinion about BlenderWiki Categorization Structure and how to do it right? I would also like to expose Semantic MediaWiki which is almost all about right Categorization.

Split Ipo section?

Great job on Ipo Curves and Keyframes. I think it also covers teh "how to" of Editing Ipo Curves as well, which is currently in the Table of Contents as a missing page. Would you like me to split the section up as indicated by the TOC and add some examples, or should we delete the TOC entry?--Roger 13:53, 21 November 2006 (CET)

Your thoughts, pleas on Painting in the User Manual

please comment on http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Talk:Manual/UV_Unwrapping_And_Texturing and http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Sandbox/Compositing thx. --Roger 05:19, 9 December 2006 (CET)
