oxigen hi!
oxigen you don't like blog idea, huh?
<Inktvlek> I talked to spidey last night and he said he would enable my IP to access the mediawiki, but I still can't...
<Inktvlek> well I don't see the point of ity
<Inktvlek> -y
oxigen maybe termin blog isn't right... but what's wrong?
<Inktvlek> the wiki will become to cluttered with information
<Inktvlek> whereas the user wants small amounts of good, detailed information
oxigen than also your article wont fit.
oxigen or what?
<Inktvlek> I haven't written any articles yet, so I don't know what you are talking about
oxigen you didnt?
<Inktvlek> no
oxigen on wikibooks?
<Inktvlek> on wikibooks yes, but not for the manual
oxigen ah, this will be only manual?
oxigen I wish to have there all tutorials converted in wiki!
oxigen this would be cool
oxigen http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Tutorial_Links_List
oxigen why not?
oxigen problem with space?
<Inktvlek> because this will become the official blender manual
<Inktvlek> the one you buy in the blender e-shop
oxigen ok, ok, this must be one separated part.
<Inktvlek> it will include tutorials, just like part I, on http://download.blender.org
oxigen I understand this, but why to be limited only on this?
<Inktvlek> because this needs to be done properly first
<Inktvlek> there's already so many tutorials around
oxigen that's right
oxigen I mean right about properly first... so many, but still not enough...
<Inktvlek> also, with this wiki, normal users won't be able to create new pages
<Inktvlek> the structure will be predefines
<Inktvlek> -d
oxigen only manual just isn't enough, I think
oxigen normal users won't be able to create new pages?
<Inktvlek> no it isn't, but why should it be all in the OFFICIAL blender wiki?
<Inktvlek> no
<Inktvlek> the noob to pro is a perfect place for the things you describe
oxigen I understand for manual, but rest must be possible too.
oxigen noob to pro must be there too!
<Inktvlek> so what's the advantage of having the same content as the noob to pro book on blender.org?
oxigen noob to pro will be probably deleted in the future
<Inktvlek> it's much more efficient to keep the blender manual what it is, including some tutorials of course, and keep the noob to pro book that aswell
<Inktvlek> why will the noob to pro book be deleted?
oxigen http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wikibooks:Policy/Vote
oxigen that's why
oxigen we need specialised blender wiki place for such articles.
oxigen under this policy your article will be deleted too
<Inktvlek> well, many disagree with this policy
<Inktvlek> and I don't think someone will delete a book of the month :o)
oxigen yea, but... it's an option
oxigen and this is bad
<Inktvlek> I know, but by the time that will happen, blender.org may adopt it
<Inktvlek> but as for now, wikibooks will do fine
oxigen I just hope that will not be too late.
oxigen why not now?
oxigen Wiki would be better for this purpose than Elysiun, don't you think?
oxigen ok, show me all tutorials on Elysiun...
<Inktvlek> because, like I stated before (but I am no project leader so this is just my opinion), the blender manual will have many things in common with the NtP in the first place... The Blender manual should be just that: the blender manual. Not a collection of tutorials.
<Inktvlek> I have not mentioned Elysiun
oxigen I did
<Inktvlek> I don't think that is a very good place for tutorials
oxigen I want to show you why I was talking about open BlenderWiki.
oxigen I hope that will Stefano agree with me...
<Inktvlek> well it may be a good idea to have several sections in the wiki...
oxigen yes, I agree with you about Blender Manual.
<Inktvlek> like: http://wiki.blender.org/wiki/docs/Part I/
<Inktvlek> http://wiki.blender.org/wiki/docs/Part II/
<Inktvlek> http://wiki.blender.org/wiki/tutorials
<Inktvlek> only the tutorial part being open
oxigen It's excellent idea, but please don't think only about manual.
<Inktvlek> why not?
<Inktvlek> When the manual is done, we can start think about other things
<Inktvlek> we need to focus
<Inktvlek> you don't agree that we need to do the manual first?!?! What's the use of tutorials when you can't even find detailed documentation on blenders functions?
oxigen yes, open tutorials, that's what I suggested. Thank you. I also agree that must be manual first. It's ok then, we agree ;)
oxigen draw :)
