Revision Process

Writer Guide | Style Guide | Notes for translators

This page is intended to list open tasks in the wiki. This includes mainly (but is not limited to) the documentation of (new) features in Blender. The process of manual revisions after a new Blender release is documented here. FOLLOW IT

EDIT THIS PAGE to add items you find missing from the manual but cannot fix yourself. Also EDIT THIS PAGE when you have verified that work by another author is truly done, complete with accurate use information and maybe even an example, you can move the finished (i.e. marked with the "done" template - which includes a verification by other users) task to the Archive section at the end of the section.

This page is for the USER MANUAL ONLY. Blender Game Engine-related updates and features that need to be documented are contained on a separate To-Do List. Please visit that page if you wish to contribute your time and knowledge to documenting the Blender Game Engine.

Out-of-date tutorials are the responsibility of the individual tutorial's author to update for each new release. Do not add them here, since it is likely those authors do not contribute to the User Manual. Please contact the tutorial's author directly to request an update. If enough people do, they will be motivated to update them. Otherwise, they figure no one is reading the tutorial anymore, or no one has an issue with it.

[edit] Releases

This page list those specific things and areas that need attention. Please look for areas that have not been done for PRIOR releases where we need to catch up. When you see an area you want to do, edit this page and use the templates to mark that topic as yours. Thanks!

New features/enhancements from the release notes translates into these user manual pages/changes, integrated into the TOC and nav page-flow when complete:

[edit] Version Check

If a version number is given in the header of a page in the manual, it will automatically link to one of these categories below, and its page name will show up in the M category. Please note that all language translations will also show up. Check these links regularly and update old pages to the new release if they have changes. If there are no changes needed, just update the page header to the current release.

[edit] English User Manual Version

Edit this paragraph and add a new release number. When no more Manual/ pages show up on the category list, we know that the English User Manual is up to date and you can delete that category from this list. The following Categories have outdated English User Manual pages:

[edit] Other Languages/Wiki Sections

As English User Manual pages are updated, generally, the foreign language translators watch their respective pages for changes, and translate as needed into their language, using this list as a guide to them in finding outdated pages:
