How to request editing rights?

Due to a spam problem, you need to request editing rights either by emailing LetterRip AT gmail DOT com or in the IRC channel #blenderwiki on irc.freenode.net. Please create a mediawiki account before requesting at irc to speed up the process. In IRC you can ask Inktvlek, S68, Spiderworm, oxigen, timmeh, mfoxdogg, LetterRip or BeBraw about the request. You must tell them your registered username on BlenderWiki.

To connect to IRC see http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Tutorials/IRC:_Getting_Connected for further details.

About adding content

As you add content, please be sure to follow the guidelines on naming and on style. Also remember to use right templates. Remember to see this page if you are localizing the wiki. It contains information needed for creating new pages etc.

Before adding new pages, it is recommended that you Sandbox them, and work with an existing wiki author as an editor to help you review your material.

Please put the appropriate content in the appropriate section:

  • Core Documentation (including the Manual)
Comprehensive documentation of a specific Blender feature
  • Tutorials
Start-to-Finish step-by-step instruction on a specific task or job function
  • Resources
Actual, reliable, quality content that users can re-use on their projects
  • Support
Detailed, somewhat technical doco on a very specific feature, theory, or approach in Blender

Also, content only directly and clearly related to Blender should be hosted there, and other content only tangentially related should be hosted elsewhere. So content on using Blender is good, but broader research and technical information should probably go elsewhere.

As an Author, it is sometimes difficult to know when to stop, and what to cut out. Peer review and working with an Editor can help you stay focused. on-track, and succinct. Any experience wiki author should be willing to be your editor.
