[edit] Temporarily removing 'techniques'

As part of my BSoD wiki restructure and cleanup project ( User:Broken/SummerOfDocs2006Restructure, I'm removing the 'techniques' section from this page, since it doesn't fit with the reference documentation. However, it's very cool stuff, and I think each chapter should have a page dedicated to cool tips and tricks like this. I've moved the text here ( http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Broken/Techniques ) until I get to the high-level restructure part of the project.

cheers

[edit] Modifers not modifers after applied

Don't have time to figure out how that would be changed even, but there's a note down there that mentions that the decimate modifier prevents UV mapping even if the modifier isn't applied yet. It sounds odd, as the whole reason that the modifier will prevent uv mapping is that it isn't applied yet, and once applied you just have a different-ified mesh that you can go on and uv map ...

[edit] X, Y, Z Axes

That note does a pretty poor job of describing the function of those buttons, IMO, and I wonder if we shouldn't rewrite that section. As far as I'm aware, those buttons do not re-organize so much as they *remap* the axes, allowing the user to define how the X, Y and Z axes of a texture should be mapped to the object. I believe my own understanding of these buttons was hampered by this documentation for a few years. Also, the supplemental note ("You can flip axes to mirror a texture...") seems especially problematic, as it mentions a possible function without explaining how it might be accomplished. This type of off-handed note should be avoided in documentation. Spectre-7 09:09, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
