I've just uploaded a nice vertical render-button screenshot. This might be better for layout on this page. What do you think? --Hoehrer 11:31, 26 August 2006 (CEST)

The new layout looks just fine to me. Just remember to change that left to right part to top to down. --BeBraw 09:07, 3 January 2008 (CET)

Example:

[edit] RENDERING

Rendering Buttons.

Rendering is the final process of CG (short of post processing, of course) and is the phase in which the image corresponding to your 3D scene is finally created. The rendering buttons window is accessed via the Scene Context and Render Sub-context (F10 or the Image:Manual-Part-I-RenderingButton.png button). The rendering Panels and Buttons are shown in Rendering Buttons..

These buttons are organized into panels, which are (left to right):

  • Output - controls the output of the render pipeline
  • Render Layers - controls which layers and passes to render
  • Render - controls the actual rendering process of a still shot
  • Anim - controls the rendering of a series of frames to produce an animation
  • Bake - pre-computes certain aspects of a render
  • Format - controls the format and encoding of the picture or animation
Tabs
To save screen space, some of the panels may be tabbed under another; for example, the Layers panel is a tab folder under the Output panel. To reveal it, simply click the tab header.
Yafray
If you have installed Yafray, options to control it will appear as two tabs under the Render panel once you have selected it as a rendering engine

[edit] Render Window Shortcuts

Also I'm not sure if there already exists documentation about the F11 functuionality (show/hide render-window) and the various other hotkeys used in the render window e.g. A to show the Alpha layer, Z for zooming and an unknown (to me - is it J?) key to "switch" to a "previous" image (buffer?) and compare different render-results - is there more?

I mean this stuff is very useful and often very hard to find (no menu entries or other hints IIRC) I could not find this in any place in the wiki after a quick search, but I'll continue doing so and also comb the forums as well. Any hints are welcome of course :) --Hoehrer 08:55, 3 January 2008 (CET)

Those shortcuts should be definitely documented. Animation playback has certain useful but not documented shortcuts as well. If I recall correctly, arrow keys should work there.

It should be made clear that these shortcuts may not be valid in case the image is rendered directly to the image editor. --BeBraw 09:07, 3 January 2008 (CET)

Ok, I've started a (very crude) overview here: Manual/Render Window (with some hints here Manual/Rendering#Overview). An own page is kinda overkill for this tiny bit of information, but I feel very uncomfortable putting this in one of the existing tangential pages.

Love it! Integrating into main page. --Roger 14:34, 19 February 2008 (CET)
