This panel appears in the Editing Context panel group which is accessed using F9 or clicking Image:Manual-Part-I-Interface-Context-Editing.png button in the Buttons window. See Text for further details on using the Font system.

  • Load - Shows the "File Brower" window for navigating and selecting a font. Typically the largest and nearest window available is chosen.
  • <builtin> - A listbox that shows the current font assigned to the selected object. The default is set to the Font system's built-in font.
  • Image:Reference-Panels-Editing-Font-PackButton.png - Embeds or De-embeds the font into or from the current .blend file; it is also called Packing and Un-packing. This allows the font to travel with the .blend file such that it can always be rendered if the original font removed. Note that it will enlarge the .blend file considerably if used with many fonts.
  • Insert Text - This inserts the contents of a file that contains text. A "File Browser" is used to select the text file. Warning, be careful that the text file doesn't have large amounts of text in it otherwise you will consume vast amounts of system resources.
  • Lorem - Inserts a random paragraph of Latin Lorem Ipsum at the current cursor position. Think of it as a visible "Easter Egg".
  • U, B, i - Underlines, Bolds or Italics selected text. See Text for further details.
  • Left, Center, Right - Align text relative to the object center.
  • Justify - Fill completed lines to maximum textframe width by expanding whitespace.
  • Flush - Fill completed lines to maximum textframe width by distributing by amongst all characters.
  • ToUpper - Toggles all text between UPPER and lower case text.
  • TextOnCurve: - Enter the name of a 2D curve. Either the curve is a NURBS curve --not a NURBS Surface curve-- or Bezier curve.
  • FastEdit - Toggle Polygon filling to improve interactive performance. This is only effective in Object mode. This button reflects the current shading setting.
  • ObFamily - You can create fonts yourself within a .blend file. Each letter from this Font Object is then replaced by any Object you chose, and is automatically duplicated. This means that you can type with Objects! Objects to be considered as letters must belong to the same 'family'; they must have a name that corresponds to the other letter Objects and with the name that must be entered in this button. Important: set the option AnimButtons->DupliVerts ON!
  • Size - The letter size.
  • Linedist - The distance between two lines of tex.
  • Word spacing - Distance factor between words.
  • Spacing - The size of the space between two letters.
  • X offset, Y offset - This shifts the text up, down, left or right. For adjusting a "TextOnCurve".
  • Shear - Italic angle of characters.
  • UL position - Vertical position of underline.
  • UL height - Thickness of underline.
  • TextFrame: - The name of a text frame. Each text object can have multiple text frames. You can scroll between frames using the left and right arrows.
  • Insert - Add a new text frame to the current text object.
  • Delete - Remove a text frame from the current text object.
  • X:, Y: - X and Y offset of text frame relative to the other text frames.
  • Width:, Height: - Width and Height of current text frame.
